Perks Of Having An Organized Office

I personally can’t think of anyone who likes to walk into their office and be greeted by mountains of unfilled documents, folders all over the place, leaning stacks of reports here – piles of old disks there. Or how about old coffee cups, discarded reports and newspapers all over the place? If the office is not scattered, it would be very easy to locate different tools and materials. Perhaps you wouldn’t have overlooked that deadline last week because the note you wrote it on got buried in the piles of clutter on your desk. If you think that the mess around your office affects on how you work, then you should start organizing your office now.

The first thing that you have to remember is that, you should create a space in your office. You can achieve having a space in your office by clearing the walk way in your work area. Get rid of office equipment which has no value and are useless in your office. You can also remove all the boxes hidden under your cubical or along the walls. Trust me, you will definitely gain more space by just removing all the unnecessary equipment. Remember, the less clutter you have the less stress you have.

The next thing to attack is your desktop. Let’s face it, this is where everything happens. Perhaps, the desktop should be the first thing that should be kept in your mind. Shred any papers that are not relevant or pertinent to what you are doing. Getting rid of old newspapers and old post-it notes can also make your workplace more comfortable.

You might want to consider purchasing or requesting some hanging file folders for your desk drawers. There are also drawer organizers for things such as pens, pencils and staplers. You might also want to buy bins which are directly attached to the wall since they are also convenient to use.

Another step which is very helpful is by labeling everything, however, this step is quite crucial. There’s no room for overboard in this step. We’re talking bins, shelves file folders, drawers etc… This will greatly help you find something when you are looking for it. Returning things to its rightful place is also a benefit in using these organizers.

You should also hang a dry erase board on the wall to keep track of important events. Loose papers laying around will be stopped.

An organized office space is really important if you want to become more efficient and capable in doing things in your work place. All you need is time and effort in order to organize your office, but soon, it will be worth it.
